Vision statements can often sound aloof and their connection to reality is difficult to establish. At Guardian Automotive, we say that our vision is to “improve people´s lives by focusing our resources on delivering high quality, valued automotive glass products and services to our customers.” With our new automatic trimming installation, we now have a vivid example of how this vision is becoming part of everyday life. But first things first.
When laminating windscreens, PVB film overhangs occur at the edge of the windscreen, and these must be removed and trimmed after the autoclave process. Until now, this has been a laborious and strenuous activity for the employees in our Production Department. In addition, the high use of force can cause damage to the product and thus lead to scrap.
The new automatic trimming installation puts an end to this and also generates a number of other benefits for all parties involved – first and foremost for our customers. Whereas only a manual reduction of the overhangs to 3 millimetres has been possible up to now, the robot shortens the overhang to just one millimetre, with higher precision. The improved handling also reduces the risk of splintering, which in turn reduces the use of resources and improves quality at the same time.
Healthy employees, improved quality, a saving of resources and shortened processing times for faster service at a higher level.
